We are a mining and major projects consultancy based in Brisbane, started by two experienced engineers with leadership experience. We offer a different consulting service to the east coast mining industry that focuses on quality of work and in ownership of the task. We are building a company that focuses on delivery of value to our clients, undertaking a variety of work for site and corporate teams, ranging from short term engineering designs, life of mine plans, and advisory positions.
About the Role
We are seeking a Mining Engineer looking to take the next step in advancing their career. You will undertake work across all our projects, taking ownership of tasks and responsibility for delivering project outputs. As your experience and skill set evolves the ownership and projects you take on will increase commensurably. The role includes tasks such as:
Assistance with Progressive Rehabilitation and Closure Planning and general rehabilitation work – landform design, bulk reshaping plans and summary reporting.
Dragline design work – short, mid-term and strategic work involving dragline strip designs, optimal horizon and strip width studies, evaluation of truck and shovel versus dragline horizons. The work will be in both 3D-dig and Deswik CAD.
Scheduling – Spry scheduling of short, mid and long-term plans. Source, destination and haulage scheduling.
Reserving – design and creation of reserving solids for mid-term and long-term plans in Deswik CAD.
Rehabilitation – strategic, mid-term and detailed short-term design of rehabilitation for execution on mine sites.
Equipment productivity and truck match.
Writing of project, pre-feasibility and feasibility level reports across a variety of subjects.
About You
The role is dynamic and busy, so you are going to be someone that thrives in a fast-paced environment and enjoys a challenge. You will have at least 7 years of experience in mining in Australia with strong open cut coal experience. You are looking for further development and to gain a broad set of skills that qualify you for future Principal, Superintendent or Manager level roles. You will be organized, have a positive can-do attitude and:
Four-year Australian engineering degree – Mining or Civil or an Australian Post-graduate (Masters) level qualification in Mining Engineering;
Minimum 7 years of mining experience;
Excellent personal interaction skills;
Excellent time management skills;
A willingness to try new things and to take responsibility for project delivery and outcomes;
Be a self-motivator who can work independently;
Have an ability to communicate your results in plain language, with very strong MS office skills including Word, PowerPoint and Excel;
Willingness to travel to client mine-sites when needed.
